Lifetime NCMS member Phillip Alan Sellers, MD died Thursday, March 9, 2023. He was 91.
Dr. Sellers joined the North Carolina Medical Society in 1964. He graduated in 1953 from Davidson College and in 1957 from Bowman Gray (now known as Wake Forest University) Medical School. After medical school, Dr. Sellers served as a flight surgeon in the U.S. Army at bases in Texas and New Jersey, then completed his training in internal medicine at the Wake Forest School of Medicine in Winston-Salem, NC.
Dr. Sellers won many honors, including the Laureate Award of the North Carolina Chapter of the American College of Physicians, and the E. Harvey Estes Jr., M.D., Physician Community Service Award from the North Carolina Medical Society.

I had the privilege and good fortune to work with Dr. Sellers on several occasions. His participation was consistently aimed at improving the health of his community and his patients. He was good at it, too.

I worked with Dr. Sellers on the Managed Care Committee and learned from him every meeting. Even after working for twenty years in managed care, I was impressed with his knowledge base. As a Physician Assistant on the Committee He always treated me with respect and listened to my input. He will be missed.
