SB 843 – Close the Medicaid Coverage Gap/Funds

Summary
This bill would provide individuals health insurance coverage in the Medicaid coverage gap.
- Income at or below 133% federal poverty level
- Between the ages of 19-65
- Not entitled/enrolled in Medicare
- Not otherwise eligible for Medicaid coverage as of January 1, 2020.
Beneficiaries eligible for this program would receive benefits through an Alternative Benefit Plan established by DHHS.
Copayments for this program would be the same as Medicaid.
This would be paid through a Medicaid Coverage Gap Assessment that will pay for the State share of the program as well as administrative costs.
The bill appropriates $100,000 in nonrecurring funding for the planning and preparation of the Medicaid coverage.
