4. Trends in Payor Audits and Disputes

Physician practices are often no stranger to government and commercial payor audits. The AMA’s prerecorded webinar, “Trends in Payor Audits and Disputes,” reviews trends in both Medicare reimbursement audits and commercial payor audits and provides actionable overall strategies for audit response. Presenters also touch on the topics of cross-plan offsetting as it relates to the practice of payor audits, as well as the practice of recovering overpayments. Attendees will learn about strategies for responding to payor audits, understand the impact of audits on a practice, and identify ways to minimize the burden in responding to the audit request. To accompany this presentation, the AMA has developed a checklist that helps practices respond effectively to payor records requests while minimizing the administrative burden associated with responding to such requests.
