This bill would establish a central assessment and navigation system pilot program in New Hanover County to reduce the number of individuals utilizing hospital emergency departments for mental health and substance use disorders. This pilot would be created by the NC Department of Health and Human Services, Division of Mental Health, Developmental Disabilities, and Substance Abuse Services in consultation with LME/MCOs. This bill would require them to be responsible for overseeing the 2-year pilot program in New Hanover County at New Hanover Regional Medical Center and at Wellness City.
