The North Carolina Medical Society’s (NCMS) Policy Committee is charged with developing policies that align with the NCMS Mission and the NCMS Guiding Principles.
This committee recently came together to create a policy addressing corporate practice of medicine in North Carolina. This policy will serve as an effective tool to guide and support NCMS advocacy efforts addressing physician and patient protections in this space.
The NCMS Policy Committee invites you to review the draft policy and share your feedback here. The form will close Thursday, October 31st.

If we (physicians) soften on corporate medicine and allow non- physician, non-NCMB licensed owned companies (except hospitals) into the state, it will be one more step in giving away our profession. We began to give away our profession in the 70′-80-‘s when we agreed to file insurance for patients for higher reimbursement. Insurance companies already have significant control of medicine by controlling pharmacies and PBM’s
Not allowing expansion of corporate medicine will help preserve some of the autonomy and direction of our profession for current and future physicians.
