Constellation Quality Health’s 2023 Harris Memorial Award winner is Dr. Jeffrey Kuremsky, Oncology Service Line Quality Physician Leader with CaroMont Regional Medical and Cancer Centers in Gastonia, NC. Dr. Kuremsky has devoted his entire career to patients diagnosed with cancer and is known for demonstrating a steadfast commitment and compassion to the needs of each patient, taking individual time for questions and concerns.
Dr. Kuremsky is integrated at all levels within his patients’ treatment providers: oncology, radiation, chemotherapy, and imaging specialists, as well as insurance companies. When treatment delays occur such as with authorizations, Dr. Kuremsky is diligent in conducting peer-to-peer physician consultations and providing thorough explanations for resolution.
Dr. Kurmensky’s nominator, Kimberly Miller, offered this testimonial: “Dr. Kuremsky is consistent in his belief in medical care, positive thinking, personal resilience, and finding ways to strengthen the entire treatment process for patients and providers alike. His service is a blessing and an asset to cancer patients in North Carolina.”
We love and admire Dr. Kuremsky. He has been my husband’s doctor for over 4 years and he is a Godsend. He treated him when he lost his voicebox due to cancer in 2020 during covid. He was always so kind, caring and compassionate every time we saw him. This past February he decided to order a PET scan for Mike since none of his other doctors had run any scans since his cancer in 2020. Early the next morning he called me and regrettably told me that something had showed up. He had already spoken with a pulmonary specialist in Charlotte and wanted Mike to have a biopsy and it was scheduled. From there we found out he had a new cancer in his lungs and lymph nodes. Dr. Kuremsky started radiation on Mike April 15th and had also referred us to Dr. Boateng who is a chemo doctor and he also started chemo the same day. Dr. Kuremsky wasted no time getting treatment started and was always reassuring to us that he would stay on top of it and he felt like he could cure it. We see him every Wednesday after treatment and have 3 more treatments to go. He finished chemo this past Monday. I don’t know what we would do without this doctor. He is so patient and has as much time as we need when we see him. He tells us that he will be following Mike very closely and see him on a regular basis. I feel so good about that and it’s reassuring to Mike. Many thanks to you Dr. Kuremsky and you deserve this award and many more.
