HB 358 – Modernize Respiratory Care Practice Act

This bill would add a certificate issued by the North Carolina Respiratory Care Board recognizing the person named on the certificate has met the requirements to perform respiratory care procedures as outlined in the Act.
This bill adds the requirement of a criminal record background check and fingerprinting to receive a license with the Department of Justice rather than the Department of Public Safety providing criminal records check to the Board.
Board member requirements under the proposal would change to include one North Carolina member shall represent the Atlantic Coast Medical Equipment Services Association instead of the NC Association of Medical Equipment Services.
This bill was received a favorable report in the House Health Committee on April 5, 2017, and has been re-referred to the House Finance Committee.
This bill was introduced by Rep. Justin Burr (R – Montgomery) as a proposed committee substitute in the House Finance Committee on April 20, 2017.
The bill will now move to the House floor.
