Covid-19 News: State of Emergency + Physician/PA Forums

Yesterday, NC Governor Roy Cooper declared a state of emergency to coordinate response and protective action to prevent the spread of Covid-19. Read the Executive Order.

Among its many provisions, the Order seeks to ensure health care professionals have access to the necessary resources and supplies to protect and treat the public. As of yesterday evening, there were seven confirmed cases of Covid-19 in the state.

The Order also makes sure Medicaid patients are covered for any necessary testing or treatment related to Covid-19 and instructs the NC Department of Health and Human Services (NCDHHS) and the NC Department of Insurance to work with commercial health plans to reduce cost-sharing to zero for Covid-19 screening and testing. It also encourages private labs and universities to help increase testing capacity.

The order was immediately effective and will remain in effect until rescinded.

Updated Covid-19 Mitigation Guidance

Also yesterday, NCDHHS issued updated mitigation guidance to protect and slow the spread of the Covid-19 virus. The recommendations should be implemented immediately and extend to the end of the month.

Review this comprehensive list of ways NCDHHS recommends mitigating the impact of Covid-19.
