Governor Cooper and State Health Officials Update Mask RecommendationsOn Thursday, February 17, Governor Roy Cooper and NCDHHS Secretary Kody H. Kinsley provided an update on the state’s COVID-19 trends. As North Carolina’s COVID-19 metrics continue to move in the right direction and with vaccines widely available, Governor Cooper encouraged schools and local governments to end their mask mandates. Sec. Kinsley shared that an update on mask guidance will come March 7th. To prepare for these changes, a list of these guidance updates can be found here. North Carolina Medical Society Supports Governor’s Decision and Offers Recommendations on Transitioning to COVID EndemicYesterday, NCMS CEO/EVP Chip Baggett issued a press release in response to Governor Cooper’s update on mask recommendations, supporting the Governor’s stance based on current trends in COVID-19 metrics and focusing on what the next steps should be in dealing with the virus going forward.
