Marcus Plescia, MD, MPH, Kanof Institute for Physician Leadership (KIPL) 2005 alumnus, has been quoted widely recently in his role as Mecklenburg County Health Department Director. Plescia has been working to help ensure the water at the US National Whitewater Center in Charlotte is safe after a teenager died earlier this summer after an infection caused by a brain eating amoeba she inhaled while rafting at the whitewater center.
