The answers to these pressing questions are available through a new interactive tool on the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) Quality Payment Program (QPP) website. To find out if you should participate in the Merit-based Incentive Payment System (MIPS) program, simply enter your national provider identifier (NPI) in this handy tool. Information will then be provided on whether or not you should participate in MIPS this year and where to find resources.
If you are not in the program in 2017, you can still participate voluntarily and you will not be subject to payment adjustments.
Of course, you may already have the answer as to whether you must participate or not since CMS recently sent letters in the mail notifying clinicians of their MIPS participation status. To learn more about MIPS and the QPP visit the Quality Payment Program website. The Quality Payment Program Service Center also may be reached at 1-866-288-8292 (TTY 1-877-715- 6222), available Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM-8:00 PM ET or via email at [email protected].
Also note, that CMS is offering a webinar on Monday, May 22, from 1 to 2 p.m. that will offer an overview of the participation criteria used to determine inclusion in the Merit-based Incentive Payment System (MIPS) and Advanced Alternative Payment Models (APMs). Register here.
